I walked into the police station and explained my problem.
“I lost my bag in the park,” I said, “and I can’t find it anywhere.”
The officer listened carefully but shook his head. “People lose things all the time,” he said.
He began to talk about how careless people had become, but just then, the door opened.
A young boy stepped inside and handed the officer a small bag. “I picked this up near a bench,” he said.
I opened it quickly and smiled. Everything was still inside.
“Well,” I said to the officer, “there are still good people in the world!”
I walked into the school library and took a seat.
I had just misplaced my new textbook and I felt quite anxious.
"I left the book on this table," I explained, "and it's gone now."
The librarian was understanding, but she couldn't offer much help. "Everyone's misplacing things these days," she sighed.
She began to discuss the general chaos of the library but was disturbed by a student approaching her desk.
A boy came forward and placed a heavy book on the counter.
It was my textbook.
"I found this near that table," he stated.
"Well," I said to the librarian, "there is still some kindness in this place!"
