主语的变化（哪些可以做主语）

名词、代词 I、Mr.wang I had a very good seat. §
doing 动名词 Fishing(常放句首) Fishing is my favourite sport.§
to do 不定式 to repair  It was his job to repair bicycles. §
从句 主语从句
  • It was obvious that he was very embarrassed. §
  • It is said that if anyone touches the tree, he will have bad luck; if he picks a leaf, he will die. §
多个并列

A,B,C and E

A , B or C
  • A young man and a young woman were sitting behind me.
    被看作整体的、用 and 连接的两个名词,当主语是 and 连接的两个名词时，谓语通常用复数形式
  • A quiet day's fishing, or eight hours in a cinema seeing the same film over and over again, is usually as far as they get.

复合名词看成一个整体 不仅有固定的词序，且后面的谓语动词通常要用单数形式

bacon and eggs（咸肉和鸡蛋） Bacon and eggs are / is a classic breakfast combination.
bread and butter（面包和黄油） Bread and butter are / is essential ingredients for making sandwiches.
cheese and wine（奶酷和葡萄酒） Cheese and wine make(s) for a delightful pairing at dinner parties. 如果把两个名词看成是分开的东西，动词就要用复数
fish and chips（鱼和油炸土豆片） Fish and chips is a popular dish/meal in British cuisine. 通常被作为单数看待的有一道菜和一套东西
a knife and fork（一副刀叉） A knife and fork are / is necessary utensils for eating steak.
sausage(s) and mash（香肠和土豆泥） Sausage and mash is a comforting meal on a cold evening.
