be about to + v. 即将(马上、正要)

  • We are about to leave. 我们要走了。
  • He is about to finish his study. 他即将完成学业。

be + to do 指按计划或安排将要发生某事（必须做）

  • We are to meet at the zoo. 我们约定在动物园见面。
  • The football match is to play at 8:00 today.今天足球比赛将在 8 点举行。
Be on the verge of 新闻、重大转折（极度紧迫/剧变）
  • The two countries are on the verge of signing a peace treaty. (两国即将签署和平协议。)
  • The company is on the brink of bankruptcy. (公司正处于破产边缘。)
  • I was on the point of leaving when the phone rang. (我正要出门，电话响了。)
Be due to 交通、会议、预产期（按照时刻表）
  • The plane is due to take off in 10 minutes. (飞机预定在10分钟后起飞。)
  • Interest rates are set to rise next month. (利率预计将在下个月上调。)
  • I have every intention of finishing this project tonight. (我今晚绝对打算把这个项目做完。)
Be slated to 电影档期、产品发布（被安排好的）
  • The new movie is slated to be released this summer. (新片定于今年夏天上映。)
  • I am inclined to believe his story. (我倾向于相信他的故事。)
  • She is contemplating changing her career. (她正在考虑换个职业。)
Be destined to 文学、励志演讲（上天注定的）
  • He was destined to lead the country. (他命中注定要领导这个国家。)
  • The project was doomed to fail from the start. (这个项目从一开始就注定要失败。)
