Lesson 6 Percy Buttons

Mr. David has just settled down in Bridge Street. Yesterday, a beggar knocked at his door to ask for a meal and a glass of beer. In return for his kindness, the beggar stood on his head and sang songs. After eating the food and drinking the beer, the beggar put some cheese in his pocket and left happily. Afterwards, a neighbour next door told Mr. David that this man was Percy Buttons. He calls at every house in the street once a month for the same reason. Everyone knows him, and he always asks for a meal and a glass of beer.
