Buying presents always spoils Jean's holidays. Last summer, she went to France. She visited palaces and sat in beautiful parks. A friendly waitress taught Jean a few words of French. Then she lent Jean a guide. Jean read a few pages, but she did not understand a word. Every day she thought about souvenirs. Her holidays passed quickly. Jean did not buy gifts for her friends. On the last day she made a big decision. She got up early and bought thirty-seven postcards. Jean spent the whole day in her room and she did nothing!
