Jack and Jean live in a quiet village that is situated in a valley between two hills. One fine day, when the sun was shining brightly despite a few clouds in the sky, Jack decided to take his wife, Jean, and their two children, Sally and Tim, for a walk through the woods. As they were walking over the bridge, they noticed that the area was in a terrible state. Although authorities had placed litter baskets under the trees to keep the village clean, visitors frequently ignored these facilities and threw rubbish everywhere. Last Wednesday, Jack was deeply saddened by the severe pollution he saw in the woods. The ground was littered with paper, cigarette ends, old tyres, empty bottles, and rusty tins, while the litter baskets remained completely empty. Among this mountain of waste, Jack even discovered seven discarded cars, three old refrigerators, and a warning sign which threatened to prosecute anyone who left litter in the woods.
