George was once a victim of a theft. While he was reading in bed, two thieves climbed into his kitchen. After they had entered the house, they went into the dining room and turned on a torch because it was dark. Suddenly, they heard a voice behind them asking what was up. The thieves were so frightened that they dropped the torch and ran away as fast as they could. George heard the noise and came downstairs, but he could see no one because the thieves had already gone. In the end, he realized that it was his parrot, Henry, who had made the noise. George felt relieved and told Henry to go back to sleep.
